...His Name Is On The Wall...

You left so many years ago
25 to be exact...

You smiled, you grinned...
You said good-bye
I won't be coming back...

You gave your life
That fateful day
In a land, so far away..

Your name is on a wall
We came, we wept, we cried

But, somehow we left
With a certain sense of pride....

written by cousin Marjorie Smith Ward...1993....for Andrew Carl Brucher...

John Martin Brucher is MIA. I have spoken to his family in my genealogy searching. We feel we must be related.

We visited the memorial in 1984, at the time I did not realize that people brought flowers, etc. There is this certain feeling you get while there. Daughter Wendy was to visit the memorial a few years later. I made up a wreath in red, white, blue with this poem, a picture of Andy in the center. Wendy's plans were changed, so the wreath was put on Andy's grave at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel, New York.

Everyone liked the poem so much. This poem has been picked up for a veterans page.

I have seen the traveling wall too. It was much nicer than I expected it to be. If you ever have the chance, go to see it. I did not think it would happen, you seem to get this feeling while visiting this wall too.

..The Moving Wall..

..Wall..

There are two Brucher names on The Wall. I did not notice this when we went to Washington, but, I noticed it in the name listing for America Online. I sent a letter to the hometown of this Brucher. No one answered me, but the letter was not returned either. Recently, by a stroke of luck, someone from John Brucher's family got in touch with me. She told me John had left a wife and two children.

When I attended the Billy Ray Cyrus concert I made up a special shirt with a picture of the wreath, a copy of the Some Gave All cover.

I do remember the day that I was sitting in mom's kitchen feeding daughter Wendy. Andy came and told me he had come to tell me good-by, he would not be seeing me again. Of course, I said, oh, don't say that. But, he said, no, he meant it.

Andy was a good person. We grew up together, Andy had lived right down the street from us. We had a lot of fun growing up.

When we got older, we use to go bowling up in Liberty on Sunday nights a lot. We sure enjoyed bowling.

The road where Andy use to live is now named after him. So is the VFW post. There was an article and pictures about Andy in The Middletown Record.

WreathWreath I made with poem and picture of Andy.

Husband Ronnie Ward is a Nam veteran, he visited The Wall, he says he will never go back.

Did you by any chance know Andy? Please let us know..contact Seasiders@aol.com ...Peace..God Bless you Andy and John Brucher..

It is o.k. to copy this page..but be sure that you use Andy's name..give me credit for writing the poem.....thank you...
